USPA NEWS - Westchester Table Tennis Center in Pleasantville, New York conducts 4 STAR USATT Sanctioned Open Championships since the year 2011. And in the current month 163 table tennis players, over the weekend January 27th, 28th gathered in the WTTC, in Pleasantville, to play-off championships´ titles in many categories.
The highlight of the Tournament was the Open Singles Championship with the Award Trophy and the prize money of 1500 US Dollars for the 1st Place and 750 US Dollars for the 2nd Place. Competitors for the Title started with playing in Round Robin groups and then proceeded with play-offs until the Final Match. In the Final of the January 2018 Open, there met a member of the US Youth National Team, a High School Student from Jew Jersey, USA “” Sharon Alguetti and a player and a Coach from China “” Nuo Xu. In an interesting and with no compromises 4 games, Sharon Alguetii was able to overplay Nuo Xu and to earn the Title and the Prizes: 3:1(-8,4,10,3). Both players are currently ranked by the USATT rating system and have the ratings 2615 and 2533 respectively. Spectators of the Match enjoyed top-level rallies, attacks, and defenses of these offensive-style table tennis players.
As the WTTC reports, Sharon is the only second US-trained player, who won this Title and Nuo is the only second woman-player, who reached a Final.
